DONKE SHETTE, NORTH DARFUR, SUDAN — March 2026: Halima, 35, fled El Fasher in October 2025 as fighting engulfed the city. After her husband was wounded and later died in hospital, she left with her children at dawn. Detained for three days by armed men near the village of Gurni, she eventually reached Donke Shette, where she now lives in an abandoned school. Still inside RSF-controlled territory, aid remains extremely limited, and she hopes to continue west to Tawila.
